Ashleigh is a singer, songwriter, and poet from Brampton, Ontario, who loves to transform ordinary circumstances into extraordinary adventures. She believes that some of the best stories exist because they lived through multiple generations’ narration. They can transcend time and have the power to pass down history, orchestrate new worlds, imagine futures, teach lessons, create safe spaces, and allow the reader to walk in the shoes of someone who they may never get to meet. Ashleigh believes that storytellers have the unique responsibility to share their narratives, keep history moving forward and ignite others’ passion for doing the same. She first got her start in creative writing as a small child penning songs and plays to perform in front of her classmates, family, and friends. As she got older she began sharing and teaching those songs with others within her church community. She written and taught her music to the youth choir and worship team, as well as written and directed a few plays as well.
In August 2021, She released her first self published children’s book titled “Let There Be Me,” a lullaby written with the intent to remind young black children that they are here on earth on purpose. Let There Be Me is currently available on Amazon, Barnes & Noble and Chapters Indigo.
She is currently working on her second children’s book.
